I want to tell you the story of 4 crazy french people who spent one month in Ukraine doing rock for the joy of everyone who had opportunity to meet them.
This band is called Brok, but the very head of this experience is an unleashed girl whose name is Noémie. She is the very connection between Brok and Ukraine, cause she already lived in this exiting country for 2 years with 2 different volunteering projects, and fell in love with it.
With the humanitarian mission of her aunt she spent one year in the village of Voroshelevka, a small place in the region of Vinnytsia, the city where I volunteered. Her family has been connected with this village for many years, and as it usually happens, they now feel part of it.
Noemie, after her two years of volunteering in Ukraine, the other one in the same NGO in which i worked, came back full of energy and with a thought. After all the humanitarian job made in Ukraine, she needed to fulfill it with something more that was missing.
She felt that someone needed to do something in those places where JOY and HAPPINESS are too often substituted by alcohol.
Soon after she came back home in france, she went to the concert of a new band created from her friend Mandy, called Brok, and she understood that that was the power and joy she was looking for!
So here them are, during all the month of july 2018, around Ukraine, in a van where everything happened inside will always remain inside.
They performed in big cities such as Odessa, Kiev and Vinnytsia, but the real mission Noemie was looking for was accomplished in the villages Voroshelevka and Stina.
They played the music that the people needed, and all the energy that passed in the hearts of who listened them, came back in shape of food, drinks and parties, creating rare moments of JOY that this places in the world needs. She did it. She united people from different villages with music, she made them forget about their problems for some time and draw a smile on the face of people who woke up the day after the concerts.
The 3 components of the band, whose name is Mandy, Georges and Hugo, have always being looked from people in villages where they performed as heroes. I’m sure that they inspired a lot of kids doing what they love. They really showed what is the way of volunteering that we need to improve, but first of all, they teached us the wonderful opportunities that we can create after a EVS experience.
